You should 'save' the file somewhere and then run it. If you open it directly, the save game data file will end up somewhere mysterious (the windows temp directory), and you may lose your progress. (If this happens, use 'Find Files' to look for a file called "chroma.dat" on your hard drive.)
Chromatron works under OS X 10.1 and later. Your progress is saved in Library/Preferences in your home folder.
If you tell your friends about it and get them playing too, you can share progress and hints.
Hidden feature: press r to restart a level!
On Windows, press control-C and control-V to copy and paste level solutions as code strings you can share with friends by email, IM, or chat. OS X users use command-C and command-V or the commands in the edit menu.
